1. Hong Kong Quantum AI Lab Limited (InnoEX)

Hong Kong Quantum AI Lab is a collaborative venture between the University of Hong Kong and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Committed to developing a state-of-the-art, multi-scale AI and quantum mechanical simulation platform, this lab brings together experimentalists, data scientists and computer scientists to accelerate the development and application of next-generation materials, such as OLED and lithium-ion batteries.

Epago: New-gen PEM fuel cell technology

Backed by the Hong Kong Quantum AI LAB, Epago leads the advancement of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) technology for proton-exchange membranes (PEM) fuel cells. These zero-emission cells efficiently convert hydrogen into energy and operate at relatively low temperatures, making them both cost-effective and eco-friendly. 

Epago’s patented innovations include advanced MEAs and gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) tailored for PEM fuel cells. These products are adaptable, scalable and engineered for superior performance and longevity. They can be customized for diverse applications such as forklifts, electrolyzers, and heavy-duty long-haul transportation. Leveraging more than ten years of industry experience, Epago is instrumental in facilitating the hydrogen economy transition across various sectors, including transportation and energy.

2. ThingX Technologies Limited (EFSE)

ThingX emerged from the esteemed incubation program of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). A fusion of brilliance and passion, the startup has a mission to transform smart homes and healthcare with the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

Collie R1™—the world’s first thermal-imaging-based fall detection product

ThingX’s flagship product, Collie R1™, is a groundbreaking thermal-imaging-based fall detection system that enhances safety and care standards in homes, caring houses and hospitals. It uses advanced AI algorithms, depth cameras and thermal-imaging sensors to accurately detect human posture and fall risks, as well as abnormal stationary movements, all in real time. When a fall is detected, the system immediately sends alarm notifications to mobile phones or web applications. Its precise detection capabilities and compatibility with multiple settings have led to its widespread adoption by nursing homes and non-governmental organizations in Hong Kong.

3. Cloud Broadband Limited (EFSE)

Founded in 2020, Cloud Broadband Limited is a subsidiary of Multibyte Info Holdings Limited, a licensed mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) active in both China and Hong Kong. The startup offers a comprehensive suite of mobile communication services and solutions specifically tailored for IoT projects. Their client base spans various industries including government projects, logistics, healthcare and manufacturing, catering to startups, enterprises, device manufacturers and connectivity resellers.

Key offerings from Cloud Broadband Limited include landline- and contract-free 4G broadband services and a unique SIM card service that allows users to switch seamlessly between multiple operators. This feature is particularly valuable for IoT projects involving numerous devices, facilitating optimal connectivity and efficiency. The company’s pioneering business model features a shared data pool system, where customers can subscribe to a specific data pool and distribute SIM cards among various devices as needed.
