Get some learning on the go with these business and entrepreneurial podcasts.
Entrepreneurs have one thing in common—they always look for opportunities to learn and grow. To gain an understanding of running a viable business, you need to listen to the experiences of those who have emerged triumphant in the business world. A great way to do so is by tuning into a vast number of business and entrepreneurship podcasts scattered across the internet today.
Understandably, it is hard to sift through the over 3.2 million podcasts on Spotify to find the one that best fits your interests. Hence, on top of our previously curated list of entrepreneurial podcasts, we have scouted around for five more podcasts that are a great entry point for anyone interested in picking up tips and tricks from successful businesspeople.
How I Built This
How I Built This is a podcast by the American National Public Radio (NPR) hosted by journalist Guy Raz. The podcast focuses on stories from some of the biggest companies in the world—not just the fun and exciting parts but also the frustrations of running a business! One of the best parts of this podcast is how it makes you realize that these people who start the most prominent businesses are just like you: ordinary people who were dissatisfied with the products or services out there and thus decided to change them.
Each episode is typically 40 minutes to an hour long, which is perfect for listening to during your daily commute. The podcast has been on air since 2016, with hundreds of episodes for you to binge on.
The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett
In this podcast, Steven Bartlett, the founder of the UK-based social media business Social Chain, discusses what an entrepreneur does during their day-to-day life. Through his experiences, he gives listeners important lessons on how to lead a successful business.
Some episodes include interviews with experts, like Canadian journalist Malcolm Gladwell, clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson and Egyptian entrepreneur Mo Gawdat. It also offers some great tips for the average office worker with episodes dedicated to workplace topics, such as how to be confident at work, the importance of a morning routine and finding fulfillment at work.
The series features two different kinds of episodes—one over an hour long and others less than 20 minutes in length—so you get to pick something that fits exactly how much time you have. It is one of the most popular podcasts in the U.K., topping Apple’s “Top Subscriber Shows” list in the country as of August this year. The podcast has over 253 episodes and was a nominee for “Best Business Podcast” at the British Podcast Awards 2021.
HBR IdeaCast
HBR IdeaCast is a weekly business podcast produced by Harward Business Review. This interview-centric podcast gives its listeners insight into business and company management. The show is hosted by the senior editor at Harvard Business Review, Alison Beard.
In each episode, Beard interviews people with insight into new trends and concepts, such as the metaverse and middleman economy, as well as day-to-day workplace problems, like procrastination and fighting biases at work.
Started in 2006, HBR IdeaCast has had over 800 episodes out so far. The best part of this podcast is that each episode is only 20-30 minutes long, which is the perfect companion along our subway ride to work or back home.
She Did It Her Way
Being a woman in the business world can be tough. Hence, it is important for all budding women entrepreneurs to learn about the experiences of entrepreneurship from the female perspective. Hosted by real estate investor Amanda Boleyn, this podcast featured interviews with successful female entrepreneurs talking about issues that startup founders face, such as self-discipline and taking the leap from freelance entrepreneurs to going all in.
Much like The Dairy of a CEO, episodes of this podcast also vary in length, with some being as short as 8 minutes to others being over 30 minutes long. The podcast was launched in 2015 and had 476 episodes in total, with the final episode released in December 2021.
Analyze Asia
As an Asian media startup, it would be impossible to compile a list of podcasts without highlighting one that discusses the experiences of Asian entrepreneurs. Analyze Asia, hosted by Singapore-based angel investor Bernard Leong and digital content creator Carol Yin, provides insights into Asia’s tech and business scene.
This podcast features interviews with business experts from Asia to discuss popular topics, like crypto, Web3 investment and metaverse projects in the region—perfect for any budding startup founders and investors! The podcast has been on air since 2014 and has released close to 400 episodes, each over 35 minutes long.
These are the top five podcasts we recommend every business owner to check out. They will give you actionable advice on how to start your own business or optimize your daily life. The best part about podcasts is that they allow you to multitask. Who knows, you might find your next billion-dollar idea while doing mundane tasks—all because you chose to pair them with a business podcast.
