Eco Expo Asia Opens on 26 Oct to Spotlight Latest Green Tech and Local Start-ups

The Eco Expo Asia 2023 aims to transform Hong Kong into an international hub for green technology and finance.

The Eco Expo Asia 2023, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from October 26 to 29, with online business matching services “Click2Match” available from October 19 to November 6.

Under the theme of “Taking the Leap towards Carbon Neutrality”, the expo aims to gather prominent figures from Mainland China and the global environmental industry to promote concepts like carbon reduction, waste reduction and new energy. The ultimate goal is to transform Hong Kong into an international hub for green technology and finance.

Thematic Zones Promoting Industry Exchanges

This year’s expo will feature several thematic zones, including Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency, Green Finance and ESG-related Services, Green Transportation, Waste Management and Circular Economy, with an aim to foster industry exchanges. There is also a Startup zone where emerging companies can showcase their latest innovations, offering a prime opportunity for start-ups to meet potential investors and business partners. A new element, ESG Job Hub, has also been added, allowing young talents to learn about the job prospects and opportunities in ESG and connect with employers in the field.

The Startup Zone

This year’s Startup zone will feature products and technologies developed by international start-ups addressing different environmental issues, including plant-based personal care and household cleaning powder products produced by Define Clean Limited (booth 6-G06), plant-based food technology developed by Meat The Next Company Limited (booth 6-G16), tailor-made circular waste management solution co-developed by weplastic® with #tide® and Swiss University of Applied Science (booth 6-G02) and Lepironia Articulata plant-made straw by Taiwan’s Wonder Greener Co., Ltd. (booth 6-G14).

define CLEAN is a start-up social enterprise that provides plant-based personal care and household cleaning and disinfection granules without disposable plastic packaging.

Tiger Nut Oat Milk is researched and developed locally by Meat the Next Company Limited. Their proprietary and patented enzymatic technology can effectively extract natural sugar. The Milk is sweet but without any added sugar or lactose, making it suitable for people with lactose intolerance and a healthy new choice for everyone.

weplastic® has partnered with #tide® and the Swiss University of Applied Science to develop the first tailor-made circular waste management solution to repurpose plastic trash: upcycling the collected plastics back into premium virgin quality raw material and re-introducing it into the HK market.

The straw is made of Lepironia Articulata plant, Wonder Greener Co., Ltd. keeps the straw as simple as possible without adding any chemicals. Dedicated to the environment, the company hopes to make the planet cleaner by using less plastics.

On October 26, a Start-up Sharing Session will be organised for these start-ups to present their ideas, products and services. Business-matching services will also be offered to connect start-ups with visitors interested in sourcing from, partnering with or investing in these companies.

If you are an investor looking for opportunities to contribute to a greener future, do join Eco Expo Asia to explore more products and solutions by the startups.

The expo will open its doors to the public on the last day to promote green living, with visitors able to participate in environmental workshops, green mart and seminars.
