由 JUMPSTART 撰寫 WorkTech在香港的初創社區中上演了一場國王豪華音樂節 此文章為英文版本譯本。中英文版本如有歧異,概以英文版本為準。 在2019年末及2020年初的幾個月中,Michael Wong在創業界似乎無處不在。 WorkTech的創始人兼董事長Michael與很多商業名流都有來往,當中包括新加坡的萬方家族辦公室、恆生大學、著名的風險投資公司Click Ventures及其他於香港創新領域的有名的企業。 他旗下備受矚目的合作項目給大眾留下了深刻印象,例如在一月與恆生大學融創中心的合作。此外, 在一月下旬,亦出現WorkTech完成首輪融資的新聞報導,它獲得萬方家族辦公室等注資2,500萬美元。 這樣看來,WorkTech在社會中的影響力只能是一件好事。 而其公司在新加坡,台灣,中國和香港的迅速發展,由14個業務地點增至19個,同時支持著WorkTech這些新聞報導。 不過鑑於最近發生的事件,Michael於東南亞地區創新領域中的重要角色變得虛有其表。一些業主因多次扣押債務人財產之事宜向Michael的公司提出了起訴,當中一些業主更在五個多月內都沒有收到租金。 WorkTech前員工和業務上的合作夥伴亦提出了包括口頭虐待,違反勞動法例及多層欺詐的指控。 這故事涉及了沒到賬的銀行轉帳、欠薪、多次無法兌現的承諾和違約等行為。 所有的跡象都讓人感覺到這間公司處於混亂當中,而當中涉及一名不顧一切地追求夢想,以自身聲譽,商業利益和員工作為代價的負責人。 當創業夢想變成噩夢 每個人對失敗都有不同的定義,但是當公司的四名高層管理人員同時一併離開,這清楚表明當中有點異常。 在長達四個月沒有薪水的情況下,四名高級經理同時於6月1日按計劃辭職。雖然他們取消合同理由與薪金相關,但本雜誌Jumpstart進行一系列採訪後,顯示出這只是冰山一角,他們強調Michael冷漠無視員工福利,並給人留下他只將法律視為建議的印象。 前WorkTech首席營運官Eddie Lin指出,Michael大膽追夢及拼命的性格存在陰暗面。據悉,管理層在處理敏感問題時,他曾使用辱罵性語言,威脅及恐嚇手段迫使他們退縮。 但當他心情好轉時,他不時引用公司即將達成的兩筆重大交易以灌輸樂觀情緒予管理層:第一筆交易是區域共享工作運營商Kafnu收購的投標,第二筆交易則是與萬方家族辦公室的資金交易兼合資。 當公司雄心勃勃地發展時,租金付款卻仍在拖欠。 在新冠肺炎大流行期間,Michael採取了進取的策略,連續數月不支付員工薪金,而
