The new funds will propel the company’s expansion in automotive, aerospace and defense manufacturing operations.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Divergent Technologies, a leader in digital industrial manufacturing, has recently finalized its Series D equity financing, securing US$230 million. The investment round was notably led by Hexagon AB with a substantial US$100 million contribution and saw the participation of both new and existing investors, including institutional and family office investors.
Revolutionizing manufacturing with DAPS™
Founded in 2013, Divergent Technologies is renowned for its development of the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS™), which stands as a groundbreaking replacement for traditional design, manufacturing and assembly methods. DAPS integrates AI-driven generative design for structural engineering, innovative materials and additive manufacturing for production and automated fixtureless assembly for creating large multipart assemblies. The innovative products developed through DAPS excel in performance, offer cost efficiency, can be rapidly customized for specific missions and customer needs, reach the market quicker and are scalable to high-volume production.
Expanding influence in key industries
Divergent’s cutting-edge system has found significant applications in the automotive, aerospace and defense industries, where it serves as a certified Tier 1 supplier. The company boasts partnerships with seven leading automotive firms, including Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG. Furthermore, Divergent is actively collaborating with six U.S. government contractors in the aerospace and defense sectors, working on a variety of projects.
Kevin Czinger, the Founder, Lead Inventor and CEO, emphasized the revolutionary nature of DAPS. He described it as the foundation for a new global network of regional manufacturing facilities that innovatively combine supercomputing, AI, robotics and additive manufacturing.
“We now have entered the ‘4D Age’ of fully digitized design-manufacturing-assembly as a service, dematerialized products using and requiring less material and energy, distributed regional production and democratized access to the tools, data and production assets necessary for innovation in our human-built world,” he added.
Lukas Czinger, President and Chief Operating Officer of Divergent, highlighted the advantages of DAPS for customers, noting its ability to develop high-performing products more rapidly and without the need for specific design-related capital expenses. This capability, he mentioned, liberates manufacturers from the constraints of outdated design choices. He concluded by reiterating Divergent’s mission to revolutionize the American industrial base with this transformative manufacturing technology.
Historical funding
In April 2022, Divergent Technologies concluded its Series C funding, securing a total of US$160 million. The new funding was allocated to advance the industrialization of its fully integrated platform, merging generative design, additive manufacturing and automated assembly. Additionally, it aimed to facilitate operational expansion and address the increasing demand from automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) seeking to leverage the company’s exclusive digital production technology for designing and producing vehicle structures.
