With ICAC, Infosys reshapes the future of commercial aviation, blending technology and innovation seamlessly.
In the era where digital transformation has evolved from a strategic option to a business imperative, Infosys, a global operator in digital services and consulting, has introduced the Infosys Cobalt Airline Cloud (ICAC). Targeted at commercial airlines, the ICAC aims to facilitate these entities in expediting their digital transformation venture by providing an array of personalized experiences, operations optimization and net-zero journeys for their clientele.
A peek into ICAC’s composable architecture
ICAC leans into the principles of composable architecture, deriving its framework from Infosys Cobalt—a suite of services, solutions and platforms designed to accelerate the cloud migration journey of enterprises. The ICAC seeks to offer solutions, APIs and reusable business assets targeting multiple objectives, such as transforming legacy workloads, enhancing business process efficiency and improving customer experiences, among others.
Targeting operational and customer experience enhancements
With ICAC, Infosys endeavors to bring about significant advancements in current processes and to elevate customer experiences. One specific aim is to assure precise baggage delivery and boost operational efficiency by leveraging precision-based gate-to-gate bag transfers, thereby potentially reducing the Missed Bag Rate (MBR) in hub airports by up to 50%. Moreover, ICAC, through machine-learning-enabled tracking and tracing methods, aims to slash Unit Load Device (ULD) misplacements and losses to less than 2%, down from the current industry average of over 5%.
Application of advanced technology for smooth operations
By employing AI for various airport operations, such as crowd control and theft and security management, Infosys anticipates not only ensuring smoother operations and bolstering passenger safety but also curtailing the cost of manual airport operations. Moreover, the platform is designed to optimize network and route planning. This, in turn, is expected to aid in decarbonization efforts and control emissions.
Industry insight and technological capability: A combination
Infosys envisions combining its industry-specific knowledge and technological capabilities to assist airline companies in transforming their business landscapes, exploring poly-cloud opportunities and innovating at scale, all while adhering to regulatory and security frameworks.
Perspectives on collaborations and future expectations
Fernando Rocha, CIO of Aeroméxico Airline, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Infosys, citing the potential of ICAC to address market shifts, refine customer interactions and promote sustainable growth.
Similarly, Ashiss Kumar Dash, EVP and Global Head at Infosys acknowledged the unveiling of ICAC as a pivotal moment in digital innovation, underscoring Infosys’ commitment to providing the airline sector with a versatile IT framework that can adapt to its unique challenges.
As the aviation industry navigates through the currents of change and digital expectations, solutions like ICAC will undoubtedly stand out as pivotal in melding technological innovation with practical, on-the-ground applications, potentially rewriting the operational norms of airlines across the globe.
