Fire TV’s voice search now incorporates generative AI for improved conversational content discovery.
Amazon has rolled out a series of updates to its Fire TV offerings. The new features include an improved conversational voice search powered by generative AI and Fire TV Ambient Experience advancements. Among the latest hardware releases are the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the Fire TV Stick 4K, incorporating the enhanced Fire TV Ambient Experience.
Tapas Roy, Vice President of Fire TV, highlighted the advancements in Fire TV’s search capabilities. Noting the vast array of content available, Roy emphasized the integration of Amazon’s new language model to foster a more conversational approach to content discovery. This development allows users to ask Alexa more nuanced and open-ended questions related to genres, actors, storylines and more, facilitating a more intuitive content search process.
Streaming features of Amazon’s Fire TV
As the first to feature the Fire TV Ambient Experience, Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max boasts an enhanced 2.0 GHz quad-core processor, setting it apart as Amazon’s most advanced streaming stick to date. Additionally, it’s the first in the industry to support Wi-Fi 6E, which, when paired with a compatible router, promises users reduced latency, accelerated speeds and minimal interference from other Wi-Fi devices.
In terms of visuals and sound, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max offers 4K Ultra HD quality and is compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos audio, marking an improvement from its predecessors. Storage capacity has also seen an upgrade, now at 16 GB, which is double that of the previous version, allowing users a greater capacity for apps and games.
Expanding ambient experience
Previously exclusive to the Fire TV Omni QLED Series, the Ambient Experience is now available more broadly, starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It converts the TV into a dynamic display, offering quick access to calendars, reminders, smart device controls and a variety of streaming services. This feature also enables the transformation of the TV into a personal art gallery, with an extensive collection of high-quality artworks available free of subscription.
Furthermore, U.S. customers can soon create AI artwork as personalized backgrounds for their screens using voice prompts with Alexa. In addition, starting next year, customers can display and artistically modify personal photographs from Amazon Photos.
Advanced Fire TV Stick 4K
The new Fire TV Stick 4K, available for less than US$50, offers faster, more fluid 4K streaming with Wi-Fi 6 support and features an updated 1.7 GHz quad-core processor. It supports 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos audio, enhancing the overall entertainment experience.
Fire TV experience overhaul
The enhancements in Fire TV experience focus on a more intuitive and conversational way to explore content, with generative AI combined with Fire TV’s extensive content and app library to facilitate discovery. This includes a “Continue Watching” row which centralizes recently watched content from several streaming providers, making it more accessible to users.
Fire TV device bundle and new soundbar
Amazon is offering a six-month subscription to MGM+ with every new purchase of a Fire TV streaming media player or smart TV. The all-new Fire TV Soundbar, priced at US$119.99, is designed to offer bold, room-filling sound, easy setup and compatibility with all Fire TV devices.
Sustainability commitment
The newly launched devices have received the Climate Pledge Friendly badge, indicating a reduction in carbon footprint and utilization of sustainable materials. The packaging for the new Fire TV Sticks is 100% recyclable in the U.S. Amazon aims to match the electricity used by every Fire TV device with clean energy production by 2025.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the all-new Fire TV Stick 4K are available for pre-order on Amazon.com for US$59.99 and US$49.99 respectively, with the brand-new Fire TV Soundbar available at $119.99.
