The Kickstarter campaign for the Wondermom is now officially out.
Hong Kong, January 21, 2020 – Wonderkin, a company that aims to ease caregiving through the implementation of smart technology, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund its new product, the ‘Wondermom’, running until March 15, 2020. Scheduled to be launched in mid-2020, the product uses the latest technology to allow parents to monitor their babies remotely via Bluetooth, significantly easing their burden in unprecedented ways.
The product includes a ‘Kini Sensor’, which is clipped on to the baby’s diaper and sends real-time alerts via Bluetooth to a smartphone, allowing parents to know about their little one anywhere, anytime, when used with the ‘Wondermom’ App. The app has a wide range of functions:
● Sends alerts when the baby needs a nappy change, which can be customized based on skin sensitivity.
● Monitors the baby’s sleeping position, activity, and surrounding temperature, and sends alerts when these conditions are not optimal.
● Records the baby’s height, weight, and head circumference, and allows for comparison with data from the World Health Organization (WHO).
● Keeps a baby growth diary
The idea for ‘Wondermom’ was conceived by Georgiana Tam, co-founder of Wonderkin in early 2019. Having worked in the traditional diaper industry for many years, she realized that the industry placed immense importance on baby care, but not nearly enough on the wellbeing of parents. Tam and her daughter Fiona then created Wondermom to improve the caregiving process for mothers using technology.
Fiona says, “‘Wondermom’ was designed to reassure new parents that they are prepared to tackle the challenges associated with parenting”. Her vision is to bring the premium product to the masses at a reasonable price. “Everybody deserves high-quality care, and that’s what Wondermom is all about.”, she says.

The expected retail price of 1 bag of Wondermom Smart Nappies is about HKD 1.6 per piece, and the Sensor kit is about HKD 600.
