Mine Raises US$30 Million in Series B to Boost Future of Data Privacy

With the new funding, Mine aims to expand its MineOS platform. 

Data privacy solutions provider Mine has secured US$30 million in Series B funding co-led by Battery Ventures and PayPal Ventures. This investment, which also includes contributions from Nationwide Ventures and all existing investors, will fuel Mine’s global mission to revolutionize data privacy and governance management. The funding will be pivotal in expanding Mine’s enterprise-grade product, MineOS, which is acclaimed for its no-code, AI-integrated approach that simplifies regulatory compliance and data control for businesses.

Scaling MineOS with new investment

The company intends to scale its B2B product, MineOS, which is known for its intuitive, no-code interface integrated with advanced AI technology. MineOS is designed to streamline the data discovery process, enabling businesses to easily identify and manage personal data within their systems. The platform’s growing adoption across various industries highlights the increasing demand for effective data privacy and governance solutions. 

Jutta Williams, Head of Privacy & Assurance at Reddit, commented on the efficacy of MineOS in automating assessments and fulfilling regulatory obligations. The platform offers an enhanced approach to data privacy and governance, providing not just data insights but also facilitating the management of data governance operations.

Innovating data privacy and governance

Mine emphasizes customer experience in its B2C approach, focusing on continuous data discovery, inventory and classification. This includes comprehensive coverage of structured and unstructured data, cloud or on-premise, with extensive cloud scanning capabilities. MineOS aims to be a comprehensive solution for data lifecycle management, already serving a diverse range of customers including Reddit, HelloFresh SE, FIFA and Data.ai.

Gal Ringel, co-founder and CEO of Mine, stressed the importance of Mine’s solutions in the current landscape of evolving regulations and AI advancements. The company’s approach, emphasizing ease of use, has resonated with users. The new funding is expected to enhance the platform’s capabilities and further address data privacy concerns in the B2B market.

Mine addresses key challenges in data privacy and governance, particularly in navigating complex regulations and the increasing demand for transparency. The company’s automated data privacy program is designed to streamline processes and reduce costs, with a return on investment often realized within a year.

The company is preparing for the expected increase in data privacy focus in the U.S., projected for 2024 and 2025. This includes developing solutions for emerging AI regulations and risk assessment functionalities.

Scott Tobin, Senior Partner at Battery Ventures, expressed confidence in Mine’s innovative approach, and Alan Du, Partner at PayPal Ventures, highlighted the importance of data privacy in the context of the growing popularity of Generative AI. Du noted that Mine enables organizations of all sizes to responsibly harness the power of AI while safeguarding customer privacy.
