● Users can select from ~50 high quality catering partners across Hong Kong to enjoy a wide range of cuisines by July; with set-up and servers also available

● This new service also enables cross-district delivery, allowing customers placing catering orders to enjoy food from restaurants not usually available to them when ordering from our regular menus

Hong Kong, 29 June 2020 – As many in Hong Kong return to work and social distancing measures relax, the city’s leading food delivery platform – Deliveroo – launches a new catering service to serve catering needs for personal needs or professional needs. You can now order for a big group whether it is for a team lunch at the office, at weekends for a friends or family gathering, or for various kinds of parties such as picnics, junks or birthdays. Never one to neglect a chance to go green, one of the criteria Deliveroo used to select Catering Partners is they have to offer some eco-friendly packaging and reduce use of plastic where possible.

Deliveroo launches its new catering services to meet growing market demand, which is expected to become even more significant following the COVID-19 period. Deliveroo’s catering services offer convenient, hassle-free food and beverage catering at the click of a button for team meetings, corporate events and company parties, as well as family gatherings, get-togethers with friends and even junk parties or personal occasions such as bridal and baby showers and birthday celebrations.

Catering orders over HK$1,800 on specially designed catering menus on the platform will be processed via Deliveroo’s dedicated van delivery service to get the food all in one go on customers’ chosen delivery date and time slot. The service enables customers to access restaurants not normally available in their zones as normal consumers, do multi-pick up and enable out-of-zone or even cross-harbour delivery. Additional value-added services such as menu creation, event set up and servers can also be arranged by Deliveroo to address a wide range of catering needs, for groups of any size.

After identifying over hundreds of exceptional catering partners, Deliveroo has put together a launch catering portfolio featuring 50 partners, which consists of a mixt of existing restaurant partners from the platform as well as professional caterers not previously part of the Deliveroo family – encompassing a diverse offering of cuisines, budgets and locations across Hong Kong. Behind the scenes, Deliveroo is working hand-in-hand with partners to continue to grow the new catering offerings, and ensure that reunions are extra special as the city comes together once again to bond after months of social distancing.
Since the initial trial was launched in March, Deliveroo Catering has seen significant interest in the new catering menus on the platform and an increasing adoption of the service by corporates and personal customers alike. Catering partners on average are seeing a 50%-80% increase in total delivery sales through the addition of the new catering business. On the most recent Father’s day, the positive result has shown the demand of catering for private parties is increasing rapidly.

Connie, a recent Deliveroo Catering customer, said, “I used Deliveroo Catering to cater my 45 person junk boat party. The junk packages (from Cali-Mex and La Rotisserie) were affordable and the food options were plentiful – enough for second rounds for late afternoon peckish junkers. I ordered from two different vendors and Deliveroo Catering packaged everything into one delivery. It arrived on time at the pier and was delivered right to the berth. I accidentally put down the wrong address, 10 Pier Road instead of Central Pier 10, and Deliveroo Catering was quick to inform me of the mistake and changed it accordingly. Zero headaches, easy delivery, and very affordable options. I highly recommend Deliveroo Catering for your junk catering needs!”

Brian Lo, General Manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong, said, “Here at Deliveroo we want to ensure that Hong Kongers are empowered to host safe gatherings with delicious food, as we’re all eager to reunite with our colleagues and friends after being apart over the past few months. We’ve worked hard to ensure we have the right supply of restaurants, catering and drinks partners to ensure any foodie occasion in the office or with friends and family is done with caution and care. We hope that our customers, whether they are companies or individuals, will celebrate their special moments with us. At the same time, orders placed through Deliveroo Catering are an important way for Deliveroo to support its restaurant partners to increase average basket sizes and improve their bottom line.”

Andre Lense, Operations Manager, Beef & Liberty, a catering partner of Deliveroo, said, “We are very excited to be partnering with Deliveroo to launch our catering offering, and be part of the reunions among Hong Kongers after months of social distancing. With the help of Deliveroo, we have created an exclusive catering menu featuring individual sets as well as sharing platters to serve both corporate and personal catering needs. This enabled us to expand beyond our core offering on the Deliveroo platform and tap into larger orders, which drove increased revenue for us, which is particularly important after the recent period of limited restaurant capacity brought on by COVID-19.”

Deliveroo has hired its first-ever catering manager outside its headquarters in Hong Kong to facilitate the new catering services; and regularly review the service, bring in new catering partners and improve selection for customers.
