Cyberport FinTech Companies Bag 13 Awards at Inaugural FinTech Awards 2017

Hong Kong, 30 January 2018 – 13 FinTech companies from Cyberport have won 13 awards at the inaugural FinTech Awards 2017, which is organised by the professional financial information platform, ET Net, to recognise financial innovation excellence of local FinTech companies that have been established for fewer than two years. Awards were given out across nine categories to international banks, distinguished insurance companies, established financial institutions as well as outstanding FinTech start-ups.
“We are both delighted and proud that the innovations and accomplishments of Cyberport’s FinTech start-ups are being recognised by major industry partners,” said Dr Lee George Lam, Chairman of Cyberport. “The start-ups’ ingenuity and dedication to financial innovation show what our young entrepreneurs can achieve when they are a member of the right community and ecosystem.”

Dr Lam added, “Seeing the recent success of Hong Kong’s FinTech development, with a strong community of over 250 FinTech companies, Cyberport will continue to bolster Hong Kong’s FinTech ecosystem to provide a fertile ground for all to kick start, succeed, and scale. We will continue to strengthen our collaborations with industry partners, regulators and other stakeholders to ensure that FinTech’s value-adding benefits are shared to bring greater economic value. This will reinforce Hong Kong’s standing as the FinTech hub of Asia and ensure our place in the new economy.”

The 13 winning FinTech start-ups represent six FinTech domains, including Insurance, Cybersecurity, Lending, Payment, Wealth Investment & Management, Money Transfer/ FX and Universities. This is a good demonstration of the strength and diversity of the Cyberport’s FinTech community. The Cyberport community provides start-ups a close and dynamic network of like-minded innovators from around the world, as well as various programmes, investor connections, events, and networking activities to fuel their growth.
