AWS Summit Hong Kong 2019 will showcase the latest cloud trends following the launch of AWS Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) Region in April

AWS Summit will feature the world’s first autonomous racing league – AWS DeepRacer
Hong Kong — June 25, 2019 — Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) will host its annual AWS Summit Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center (HKCEC) on June 26th (Wednesday). AWS Global Summits, now held annually in 35 cities in 25 countries, brings the technology community together to connect, collaborate, and learn about cloud computing by showcasing the latest technology trends alongside some of the world’s biggest and most innovative companies and public institutions.
Joined by more than 40 AWS Partner Network (APN) partners, including VMware, Rackspace, and WTT, AWS Summit Hong Kong 2019 is expected to attract over 2,700 visitors. The fully packed event features keynote announcements, multiple breakout sessions on the latest cloud technology solutions, access to AWS experts, hands-on learning, networking opportunities, and insights into topics such as machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), security, enterprise migration journey to AWS, building data lakes and more.
With the launch of Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) Region in April, AWS enables local customers to run applications and store their content locally in Hong Kong with lower latency, and allows them to leverage advanced technologies from AWS’s broadest and deepest suite of cloud services to drive innovation. This year’s Summit breakout tracks will provide valuable learning sessions on the latest services that are made available by the new region, and how they support businesses to advance. Best practices and use cases on developing effective cloud migration journeys will also be shared.
The event will be opened by Robert Wang, Managing Director, Hong Kong & Taiwan, AWS, followed by keynotes delivered by Ian Massingham, Director of Developer Technology & Evangelism, AWS; and Olivier Klein, Head of Emerging Technologies, AWS, covering the company’s latest offerings and the outlook of emerging technologies. This year’s keynotes will also feature AWS’ customers including CLP, a leading electric company and one of the two main electric power generation companies in Hong Kong; Midland Realty Services Limited, a leading property agency group in Hong Kong; and Melco Resorts, a prominent developer of casino gaming and entertainment casino resort facilities in Asia. The three customers will highlight their stories of how they leverage AWS’ services to expand their businesses.
Alex Yung, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director of AWS Greater China, said, “Cloud technology has paved the way for accelerated innovation, helps businesses stay competitive with greater agility, flexibility and a more elastic pricing model. It provides the solutions to create and bring services to market quickly. AWS Summit Hong Kong 2019 brings together thought-leaders, subject-matter experts, and customers to showcase the digital transformation of local and regional businesses who are embracing the myriad of opportunities within and beyond the region.”
AWS DeepRacer Workshop and AWS DeepRacer League
This year’s AWS Summit Hong Kong will see the world’s first global autonomous racing league, DeepRacer League taking place in Hong Kong. The live event will provide developers with the opportunity to explore Machine Learning (ML) in a fun and highly entertaining way, as they race using 1/18th scale AWS DeepRacer cars driven by reinforcement learning, which is a branch of ML that is ideal for training autonomous vehicles.
At a racing area in the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center (HKCEC), developers will test their models and have their lap times with their cars recorded onto a Speedway Leaderboard. Participants with the fastest times will stand a chance to advance to the AWS DeepRacer Championship at AWS re:Invent 2019 which will take place this December in Las Vegas, and compete for the AWS DeepRacer Cup.

What Does Gen-Z Want in a Career?
