Christian Louboutin’s collaboration with ABFRL promises to bring unique luxury footwear to Indian consumers
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), a prominent player in India’s fashion industry, has announced a joint venture with world-renowned shoe designer Christian Louboutin. This partnership will see the current Indian business of Christian Louboutin being integrated into a newly formed subsidiary of ABFRL, with both partners holding equal stakes.
Christian Louboutin, established in 1991 in Paris, is globally recognized for its high-end footwear, particularly its signature red sole shoes. The brand has diversified into men’s footwear, leather goods, accessories, beauty products, and kids’ collections. It boasts a strong retail presence in over 30 countries
Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership, Alexis Mourot, Christian Louboutin’s Group CEO, remarked that they are excited to partner with ABFRL’s team and look forward to working with them to manage and develop the business in India.
Ashish Dikshit, Managing Director of ABFRL, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the alliance’s commitment to delivering elegance and style to discerning customers. Dikshit noted that the collaboration exemplifies ABFRL’s aspirations to shape the future of the luxury market in India.
Sathyajit Radhakrishnan, CEO of International Business at ABFRL, expressed anticipation in welcoming Christian Louboutin into the ABFRL family. Radhakrishnan highlighted the brand’s unique style and craftsmanship, well-suited for India’s rapidly growing, sophisticated audience.
ABFRL, part of the Aditya Birla Group, is a major force in Indian fashion, with a network of nearly 4,000 stores and a presence in over 33,000 multi-brand outlets and department stores across the country. It stands as India’s first billion-dollar pure-play fashion powerhouse, with its revenue amounting to Rs.12,418 Cr. (US$1.49 billion) in the fiscal year 2023. ABFRL’s portfolio includes some of India’s most prominent fashion brands, such as Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England. Additionally, ABFRL holds exclusive partnerships with international brands like Ralph Lauren, Hackett London, Ted Baker and others.
As the collaboration unfolds, it reflects the convergence of Christian Louboutin’s global appeal and ABFRL’s stronghold in the Indian fashion landscape, poised to resonate with an expanding and discerning audience.
