Astro for Business is set to redefine traditional security systems, which can be static and costly, by providing a dynamic and affordable solution. According to Anthony Robson, Head of Product for Amazon Astro, the intelligent motion of Astro has been tested in various business environments, demonstrating its effectiveness in monitoring blind spots and areas beyond the reach of stationary cameras.
Key features and subscriptions
Astro for Business offers comprehensive 24/7 surveillance capabilities. It can map areas up to 5,000 square feet and includes features like live view, two-way talk, an HD periscope camera with night vision and visual ID for smart alerts. The device offers different subscription levels:
- Ring Protect Pro: This subscription saves video history for up to 180 days and integrates Astro with Ring Alarm for enhanced alert functionalities.
- Astro Secure: Tailored for businesses, this subscription enables autonomous patrols and custom security monitoring routes. It also includes smart alerts for specific sounds like glass breaking or smoke alarms.
- Virtual Security Guard: Adding this service allows Rapid Response agents to remotely control Astro for further investigation during alarms, with the capability to call emergency services if necessary.
Privacy and control
Astro for Business is equipped with multiple privacy controls. It doesn’t retain voice recordings, and users can easily deactivate microphones, cameras and motion. Additionally, users can set “out-of-bounds” zones for Astro’s patrols.
