Dell Technologies paves the way for business evolution with cutting-edge generative AI solutions.
Dell Technologies has introduced new solutions designed to enable customers to swiftly develop on-site generative AI (GenAI) models. These solutions, building on the earlier Project Helix, include IT infrastructure, PCs and professional services. They simplify the integration of GenAI with large language models (LLM) for organizations at different stages of their AI journey.
Jeff Clarke, Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Operating Officer at Dell Technologies, highlighted the transformative potential of Generative AI during a recent investor call. He emphasized its role in accelerating innovation, enhancing customer experiences and introducing novel work methodologies. Clarke noted that many businesses, regardless of size, are leveraging Dell’s infrastructure solutions to effectively integrate advanced AI into their primary business processes.
Dell’s comprehensive GenAI offerings
Dell’s GenAI solutions encompass a broad product range, including Dell Precision workstations, Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell PowerScale scale-out storage, Dell ECS enterprise object storage and more. These tools facilitate GenAI deployment across diverse platforms, from desktops to data centers and the cloud.
In collaboration with NVIDIA, Dell has crafted the Dell Validated Design for Generative AI. This blueprint, optimized for quick deployment, offers a secure and scalable GenAI platform for businesses. It addresses traditional inferencing challenges, allowing for faster and more accurate data-driven predictions and decisions.
Manuvir Das, Vice President of Enterprise Computing at NVIDIA, stressed GenAI’s capability to transform data into smart applications. He noted the strengthening relationship between Dell Technologies and NVIDIA, aiming to empower organizations to harness GenAI’s potential for enhanced customer service, employee support and overall innovation.
Dell Validated Designs feature pre-tested configurations optimized for GenAI inferencing. These setups, which involve cutting-edge Dell PowerEdge XE9680 or PowerEdge R760xa servers and a range of NVIDIA® Tensor Core GPUs, are complemented by NVIDIA’s AI Enterprise software and Dell’s proprietary solutions. Customers can also opt for scalable data storage solutions like Dell PowerScale. All these offerings are available via Dell APEX, ensuring an on-premises setup with a cloud-like user experience.
CyberAgent, a prominent Japanese digital advertising firm, has chosen Dell servers as the foundational IT infrastructure for its generative AI development. Daisuke Takahashi, Solution Architect of CIU at CyberAgent, praised the Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers, which are equipped with NVIDIA H100 GPUs, highlighting their optimization for GenAI applications and the convenience of the Dell iDRAC management tool.
Services and workstations tailored for GenAI
Dell Professional Services offers a range of capabilities to expedite GenAI adoption, from strategy formulation to full-stack implementation and scaling services. Ashish Nadkarni, Group Vice President and General Manager at IDC, commended Dell’s AI solutions for their potential to streamline operations and deliver products and services tailored to industry-specific use cases.
Dell Precision workstations, equipped with NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs, enable AI professionals to develop and fine-tune GenAI models locally before large-scale deployment. These workstations, which can run AI software 80% faster than their predecessors, also feature the Dell Optimizer software, built-in AI software that adapts to individual work patterns, enhancing performance across applications, network connectivity and audio.
James Laird, Chief Operating Officer at Intelligent Voice, emphasized the significance of generative AI across various business aspects and lauded the combined power of recent AI advancements and Dell’s AI solutions.
The Dell Validated Design for Generative AI with NVIDIA is currently available globally, while Dell Professional Services for Generative AI are accessible in select countries. Dell Precision workstations with NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs are set to launch globally in early August, with the Dell Optimizer adaptive workload feature available on select Precision mobile workstations from August 30.
