This year, the Singapore edition was held May 15-16 at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre. The two-day conference brought 185 startups from 21 countries to showcase their products and services.
Here’s a recap of some of the highly-anticipated sessions on the two-day event:
Carousell CEO Siu Rui Quek announced the launch of CarouPay, a much-requested feature by its users to facilitate the transactions. By launching its digital wallet, Carousell marked an important leap for their users to have a higher level of trust in using the portal.
Stripe COO Claire Hughes Johnson discussed how small businesses are making an impact on the economy, and leveraging technology to power growth across the world. Her discussion also covered how the technological and structural changes drove a massive transformation in small businesses, and the factors determining growth and success for these small businesses.
In the session called “Grab And Our Story Of Fierce Optimism”, Grab Group VP of Marketing Cheryl Goh took center stage and fed the audience’s curiosity about Grab’s recent merger with Uber in Southeast Asia. She also shared more about the company’s journey and what lies ahead.
Empath, a Japan-based startup that uses AI to identify emotions in the human voice in real time, beat five other startups from Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan to emerge as the champion in the Arena Pitch battle
The next Tech in Asia conferences will be held in Tokyo Sept 20-21, followed by Jakarta Oct 23 – Oct 24.
