Asia Horse Week, the annual global equestrian rendezvous, returns to Hong Kong next February
As the annual meeting point for the equestrian community in the region, Asia Horse Week returns next year from 13 to 16 February at AsiaWorld-Expo. The 2020 conference will boast new programming to ensure each edition continues to create opportunities for riders and industry enthusiasts, as it solidifies its reputation as the global equestrian rendezvous in Asia. Coinciding with the upcoming Summer Olympics, this year’s theme is To Build the Olympic Dream in Asia – On the Road to Tokyo 2020.
Under Founder Christophe Ameeuw’s vision for leading and inspiring the equestrian world, Asia Horse Week has become a vital gathering of influential regional and international stakeholders. With the unwavering support of the event’s Founding Partner, the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), participating delegates from across Asia, Europe and the Americas are encouraged to explore and discover inspiring synergies on the most pressing topics in the equine community, while forging meaningful connections in Hong Kong, Asia’s equestrian capital.
“Equestrianism is actually very accessible,” says Raphaël le Masne de Chermont, the Chairman of Asia Horse Week. “Asia Horse Week is a platform not only for industry leaders and international stakeholders, but this event also welcomes those who wish to learn more about the sport and all equine-related topics, as well as anyone who seeks to expand their business networks in an incredibly engaging and social environment.”
Asia Horse Week 2020 will be its most prolific installment yet, with over 10 sessions focusing on three main pillars:
• The Road to Olympic Dreams in Equine Sports: In-depth discussions on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and its economic impact on the sport
• Technological Development in Equine Care: The advances in equestrian technology such as 3D horseshoe printing and gait analysing software
• The History and Development of the Arabian Horse: How the global industry of Arabian horse shows has evolved and the impact of Hong Kong’s first-ever Asian Arabian Horse Show.
Over 400 delegates are expected to participate, with more than 20 accomplished industry experts presenting their latest research and sharing leading-edge equestrian knowledge. Speakers will include:
• Mr. Ingmar De Vos, President of Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and Member of the International Olympic Committee
• Dr. David Van Doorn, Secretary of the European Equine Health and Nutrition Association
• Mrs. Michelle Wang, Founder and CEO of Equuleus International Riding Club
• Dr. Christopher M Riggs, Head of Mainland Veterinary Operations of the Hong Kong Jockey Club
Since 2014, there has been a 25% increase in show jumping athletes in Asia – with Hong Kong seeing a 134% increase in horses and India seeing a 510% growth in athletes. In particular, Mainland China alone has had a 1600% increase in equestrian events between 2009 and 2017, and in that eight-year time span, nearly one million riding club members have generated sales revenues of over HKD 9.25 billion (or RMB 8.31 billion). This remarkable growth makes Asia Horse Week one of the most important networking platforms for industry stakeholders to grow and build rapport with the equestrian community regionally and internationally.
Registration for Asia Horse Week is now open. Starting at HKD2,600, participants have access to all conferences at Asia Horse Week as well as the opportunity to experience the fierce equestrian competition of Longines Masters of Hong Kong.
