Ambi Climate 2nd Edition Concludes Successful Kickstarter Campaign with over 311% Funded and Three Stretch Goals Unlocked – Powered by Artificial Intelligence for Enhanced Comfort and Energy Savings

HONG KONG, 22 June 2017 – Hong Kong-based IoT startup Ambi Labs successfully raised US$155,885 in pledges, exceeding its initial funding goal by 311% and garnered 1,016 backers on Kickstarter, the world’s premier crowdfunding site, over the course of 4 weeks. Ambi Climate 2nd Edition is the next generation of the revolutionary air conditioner accessory that uses artificial intelligence technology to redefine the air conditioner usage paradigm, delivering enhanced, personalized comfort with energy savings.

Over 80% of the total pledges were received from backers outside of Hong Kong, including the United States, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Australia, etc. “All of us at Ambi Labs are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received in the past few weeks. We didn’t expect to garner so much attention the second time around, let alone raising 311% of our initial goal of US$50,000 from what appears to be a more global range of backers worldwide,” said Julian Lee, CEO and Founder of Ambi Labs.

The crowdfunding campaign ran for 30 days from May 23, 2017 and concluded on Jun 22, 2017. Super Early Bird and Early Bird pledges were both sold out within 48 hours, with 250 units available for pre- order each.

“We’ve worked on developing and refining the 2nd Edition – adding new features, such as IFTTT, Comfort Mode, native Alexa integration (Q3, 2017) and multi-user geolocation (Q3, 2017) for a more enjoyable user experience, the past 2 years. We can’t wait for our backers to uncover the new features, which they have helped nurture through voting and voicing their opinions throughout the Kickstarter campaign,” Julian added.

With the enormous support from 1,016 backers worldwide, three stretch goals were introduced and unlocked during the campaign, including:

  1. 1)  ‘Comfort with Flying Colors’ (US$100,000) – a feature which allows users to pick a custom color for the LED light on their Ambi Climate 2nd Edition according to their mood and home décor; (UNLOCKED: May 27, 2017)
  2. 2)  ‘Connected Everything’ (US$125,000) – various smart home integrations, such as Google Home, Homebridge and Samsung Smart things, allowing users to connect Ambi Climate 2nd Edition to their home automation system; (UNLOCKED: June 6, 2017)
  3. 3)  ‘One for All’ (US$150,000) – a multi-user comfort model. This feature uses a unique algorithm to combine different users’ comfort profiles through calculating and creating an average condition fit for all house members, based on tracking user’s geolocation via GPS. (UNLOCKED: June 20, 2017)

Julian further commented, ‘As the campaign draws to an end, the team is currently working hard towards shipping out all the units to our backers and delivering the newly unlocked features from our stretch goals. We are also proactively exploring opportunities for more retail availability in various local markets. We hope that more and more people can enjoy the enhanced air conditioning experience brought by Ambi Climate soon!’

Ambi Climate 2nd Edition solves the common AC usage challenge by redefining the AC control paradigm. Instead of selecting a single temperature, users simply report their current thermal comfort and Ambi Climate’s artificial intelligence (“A.I.”) engine analyzes the impact of multiple factors on their comfort, automatically adjusting the AC to enhance comfort and save energy. The original Ambi Climate successfully raised US$114,892 from 749 backers in a Kickstarter campaign in November 2014, overshooting the funding goal by 460%.
